A Poem by Larry Howland

Hi Zach, someone special sent this to me and I immediately thought of you and Cody so I thought I would paste it here: I sometimes wish you were still small, Not yet so big and strong and tall. For when I think of yesterday, I close my eyes and see you play. I often miss that little boy Who pestered me to buy a toy, Who filled my days with pure delight From early morn to late at night. We watch our children change and grow As seasons come, then quickly go. But our God has a perfect plan To shape a boy into a man. Today, my son, I'm proud of you For all the thoughtful things you do. I'll love you till my days are done, And I'm so grateful you're my son. I sent you a birthday card this past December, but the post office was late in delivering it so I am hoping your dad could forward it on to you at school. Getting Healthy

Hi Zach, well I signed up for a gym last week. Decided that trying to workout on my own was getting too hard. I will be taking classes 3 to 4 times a week and it's right by work so I will be able to go on my way home. Lost some weight before thanksgiving and now it's time to tone up. Need to get conditioned for our backpacking trip to desolation wilderness with your Uncle Gregg, Auntie Kim and Cody. We haven't been these last two years and it's a tough 3-hour hike from 7000 feet to 8500 that can be brutal if you aren't up for it. The scenery is so pristine when you finally get there though and that makes it all worth it. Hope you got a flu shot this year. 7 people in the Bay Area, some of them young and healthy, have already died from it. Cody and Robbie got it last week and were really sick. It's scary. Sure wish you guys were in touch, as these kinds of things really worry me. Not much else going on here this week. By now you are probably back at school and at...
