Tornados

Hi Zach, I have been hearing on the news about all the tornadoes back your way. Luckily most of them have steered clear of Texas. Bet you have already had some 'Duck-for-Cover' drills at school. I know when I lived in Illinois we had them quite a lot and once we even had the real thing. I looked out the window through a classroom while all of us 2nd-graders were taking cover in the inside hall and saw a huge one pass by in the distance. It gave me chills and looked just like the one in the Wizard of Oz. They really are scary. When I travel to Minnesota on business they keep a weather radio tuned in all the time in case a warning gets announced. I hope you have something like that at home and at school. I worry about it a lot each time I hear the weather reports for your part of the country.

Work is almost over and I am going over to Jeff's for dinner. He is cooking steak while we watch the Royal Wedding that he taped for me last night. I remember when Princess Diana got married. You were just a little boy when she was killed. It was horribly sad. Maybe it's because I am from England, but I have been very excited for this wedding all week and think it will do the country and the royal family the world of good. They need some happiness after the tragedy of Diana's death. I can't wait to see all the photos of the dress, the flowers the cake. Guess that's what all the girls want to see isn't it? We all love a fairytale. The whole family is trying to plan a trip to England next year in order to see all the relatives. Cody wants to backpack with his friends. All this excitement and seeing the palace on TV makes me think of the wonderful trip we had in 2004 and all the historic sites we saw in London and the rest of the country. I miss it sometimes, but I love the sunshine and you don't have much of that in England. Oh well, kind of rambling this afternoon so I will sign off. Once again, I will ask you to try to reach out in some small way. I know it might be hard but I would never let you regret it. I am and always will be here for you Zach.

Waiting for Spring

Hi Zach, we are waiting for spring to come here in Benicia as most days have been  rainy and chilly. Your mom has always loved beach weather and can’t wait for summer lol. Hope that wherever you are, you are enjoying the outdoors. Aside from celebrating Jeff’s 54th birthday, February was fairly quiet around here. I have been working a lot of shifts at the winery which is still the best job ever and Jeff and I have been preparing for the first vacation. we have had alone together in two years. We flew down to Curaçao, which is part of the Netherland Antilles and is close to Aruba. We had a very relaxing and amazing time in the warm weather and on the beautiful beaches. Came home to that drizzly chill and are back to waiting for sunshine. I often wonder if you travel for fun and if so, what places you have discovered and if you have any favorites. We have a couple more trips coming up this year, one to visit your uncle Gregg and auntie Kim now that they live in Portugal. Al...

Holiday Spirit

  Dear Zach, hoping you got the Christmas and birthday cards I sent to you. Cannot believe you are 30 years old now. I can’t really say time has flown given  that not being able to see you has left a huge void in our lives. The holiday season is always bittersweet in that our family always finds ways to celebrate and love one another, but there  are always thoughts of missing  you intertwined.  Jeff and I flew Cody down for the Benicia annual Christmas tree lighting and to see Nana and granddad. It was a short but very special weekend. I have included the video where Cody surprised your grandparents with his visit. It made them both so happy. It was Jeff’s family’s turn for Christmas so we flew up to Washington to be with his nephew, Maxon and the rest of the family. When I’m Sixty-Four.

Hi Zach, well, now I am officially the age of a Beatles song. It’s hard to believe I’m that old and have yet to reunite with you. It’s been almost 15 years.  I think of you every day of my life and pray that you are happy and loved.  Of course, October means Halloween, one of my favorite holidays. We met up with friends to celebrate and I dressed as Beth from the television show Yellowstone. Perhaps you’ve heard of it. Earlier in the month your aunt Christine and I went to a meet and greet for the actor Sam Heughan from outlander. It’s a show. We are both obsessed with that takes place in 18th century Scotland around the clan Fraser. Up until a few years ago, I had no idea that Jeff’s family are Fraser’s and Fraser is his younger brother‘s and father’s middle name. My head exploded lol.
