Cody's 19th Birthday
Hey Zach, hope you are well into enjoying your first full summer in Texas. It's finally getting hot here. This is the first week it has been over 80 in a long time. Today is a pretty important day as your older brother turns 19 so I hope you are able to get in touch somehow and wish him a happy birthday! It's hard to believe he has been a legal adult for one year already and even harder for me to believe he was ever a little baby. I have the same trouble picturing you way back then as well and I have an even harder time trying to imagine what you must look like now and what kinds of activities you are filling your life with. It makes me very sad, so I try to think about all of the friends you must be making and all of the things you are probably getting involved in. Once again I will make my usual request for you to please try and find the courage to get in touch. It is very difficult to live your life when part of your family is missing. Nothing is ever quite right or settled and the feeling never goes away.
Not much happening out here in California. Jeff and I are planning a trip to Washington to visit his parents as we have not seen them up there in over 4 years so I think it's time. We will probably not take our annual backpacking trip to Desolation Wilderness this year because everyone's schedules are so scattered. On the 4th of July at the Sausalito waterfront we will be celebrating mother's and father's day as well as Nana & Granddad's birthdays and the whole family will be there to help. Speaking of Nana & Granddad, they miss you more than words can say, and my heart breaks for them as they feel so helpless not being able to connect with you. I wish you could find it in your heart to reach out and give them some peace. Maybe one day we can all be together again and celebrate the good times we had. Anyway, I had better get back to work. Be safe Zach and remember how much I love you,
Mom
