Italy
Hi Zach, I didn't want to mention this trip until I got back because I didn't believe this dream would come true. Jeff took me to Italy over the past few weeks and we visited some beautiful places in that country. We stayed in Rome for 3 days, Florence for 3 days (very beautiful and romantic), on the coast in Vernazza one of the 5 hill towns of Cinque Terre and then spent a week in Cortona, a hill town in Tuscany where they filmed 'Under the Tuscan Sun.' It was an amazing trip and I thought about you so many times, especially when we went to the art museums where Rafael and Michelangelo's work was displayed. The architecture is incredible and I was in awe at how well preserved some of the buildings and walls are. We saw places that were built 3000 years ago.......and I thought England was old!!! The Coliseum and the Vatican in Rome had so much history and there were even cats that live there. The city neuters them and lets them live all around the ruins and all the people keep them well fed. They are so lovable. The pace in Italy is so much slower than here and the people are warm and friendly. They live every day to the fullest and try to get as much family and leisure time out of it they can, not like here in the U.S. where we rush everywhere and live for the weekend. It really made me stop and think about how I would try to live a little more like that when I got back. Right now, I am just exhausted with jet lag, but relieved and proud that Cody was able to manage things around the house while I was away. He really pulled through and kept things clean and the cats fed, etc. I am very proud of him.
Now it's back to work and Cody has been working hard and early shifts too. The weather here has turned cold, not like the warm sunshine we had in Italy the whole time we were there. Time to pull out the sweaters. I doubt it gets too cold down where you are but I am sure you are seeing the fall come in by now. I hope school is going well. Please, please take some time to read all my posts to you and try to respond. I miss you so much and would love to hear about whats going on in your life, and so does Nana, Granddad, and your brother. We all love you very much and look forward to a day we can all be together again. Take care my love.
