Key West
Hi Zach, wow, I had no idea how beautiful the tropics of the south-eastern part of this country can be. Your Aunt Christine and I have friends from Florida and one lives in Key West and owns a Key Lime Pie and Coconut shop on the island, and we just got back from a short visit. Key West is the last of about 80 little islands that begin at the southern tip of Florida and end about 80 miles from Cuba believe it or not! The entire trip can be made by car on the overseas highway so we flew into Ft. Lauderdale and drove down from there. Our friends put us up in their timeshare at the Marriott Beachside so all 5 of us girls got to spend some quality time together. We are trying to make this a regular thing having gone to Oahu together about 9 years ago and then to your Uncle Gregg's place 2 years ago. It's tough to get everyone's schedules in sync but worth it in the end. We had so many laughs together and saw lots of great sites. The beach photo I attached is at the southern most point of the continental U. S. Now I have been to both. Your brother and I went to the non-continental southern most point on the Big Island a few years back. Last week we saw where Ernest Hemingway wrote his books, the railroad track that was built to travel the keyes way back when, ate some fantastic seafood and soaked up some amazing sun. It's different than Hawaii in that you don't have the Polynesian influence. Instead there is a lot of Caribbean and Cuban influence which makes it a bit different. The sand is also very fine and white instead of coarse and like brown sugar in Hawaii. Anyway, I am back home and hope to see Cody sometime this week.
That's all for now. I am always thinking of you and I am sure you are getting ready for your graduation soon. I so wish I could be there to see you pass this major milestone. It's one of many I have missed and I would be so proud to see all you've accomplished. Take care sweetheart.
Love Always,
Mom
