Here it is already: End of May

Hi Zach, lots to be excited about this past couple of weeks. I surprised Nana with an overnight visit on Mothers Day which turned out to be very special for us all. I had been to lunch with Cody the day before and he dropped off a wonderful homemade card the next morning. Then over Memorial weekend Jeff and I took off to Murphys in the eastern foothills of the Sierras for a little weekend break at a Bed and Breakfast and some practice hiking for our annual summer backpacking trip to Desolation Wilderness. Went up to the south grove of the Big Trees to see some giant redwoods and challenge ourselves on the trails. No one was more shocked when out there in the forest on a beautiful spring day, Jeff got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I was completely shocked and did not see it coming but of course told him 'yes.' After almost 11 years together it's icing on the cake as I feel we were meant to be. I hope that if you read this you will be happy for us in some small way. Jeff asked Cody if it was ok, and Cody was so happy and pleased for us both as he has a great deal of love and respect for Jeff. We have not set a date yet and are just enjoying the moment, after all we are already very very happy. My one wish would be that somehow when the time comes, you could be a part of the celebration and be happy for us too.

Lots more excitement to come as the year goes on as well..... We are flying to Seattle to celebrate Jeff's parents 50th wedding anniversary near the end of June. Next up is Granddad's 80th birthday on July 1st and Nana and Granddad's 60th anniversary. These are such important milestones for our families that we would love for you to be a part of and I will never stop hoping things will change and there will one day put the past behind you and rejoin us so that no more special times are missed.

Off to bed now as it's back to work tomorrow. Bet you will soon be embarking on another fulfilled Southern California summer. Be safe my love., I miss you so much.

Love always and forever,
Mom
