Concerts and Rio

Hi Zach,
You know I have always been into music, and the rock bands of the 80s have been a particular favorite of mine for years. My all-time favorite has always been Guns n' Roses. On August 9 I finally had a chance to see them and it was by far the best concert I have ever been to! Your mom has always been a bit of a rocker so this concert was history making. The band had been broken up since the mid 90s and everyone said they would never reunite but people always hoped. The lead singer was the problem but all of a sudden he reached out to the rest of the old band and proposed a tour, leaving millions of fans thrilled beyond belief. Originally your aunt Christine, Cody, Jeff and I were scheduled to go but Jeff's work offered him an opportunity of a lifetime to go to Rio for the Olympics. More on that later. I ended up inviting uncle Greg and so the four of us took BART to the city and had the time of our lives, celebrating Cody's birthday in the process. I go a bit overboard in that I truly love the lead singer's talent so I made it a point to dress like him for the occasion, LOL. Your aunt Christine had the idea to take a picture of us similar to one we had taken as teenagers when we were fans of the Bay City Rollers. I guess it all came full circle and our love of music and concerts continues to flourish.

Almost a week prior Jeff left for Brazil with a large group hosted by Google as his company is one of their clients. Google hosted 120 clients for a week that included tickets to the events, dinners, exhibitions, tours and entertainment. It was the trip of a lifetime and something to check off his bucket list so of course a concert was not going to hold him back. He was able to see Michael Phelps and the butterfly semi finals right before he won his record making gold medal for that event. He also saw the Americans play beach volleyball, some judo and some gymnastics. The nicest surprise was all of the wonderful friends he made from around the world during the week that he spent there. It really was the most amazing experience for Jeff and I am so very glad he was able to enjoy it and experience it all.

Ten of us are off to Murphy's in a week or so for a weekend of wine tasting and another concert headlined by Lynyrd Skynyrd and Peter Frampton. This is where we got engaged a little over a year ago, so it will be nice to go back. I hope you are having a fabulous summer and that you are safe and happy as always.

I love and miss you very much,
Mom
