Big things happening!

Hey Zach, well, we did it! With a lot of help from the Belize villa owners, who had been feeding her nightly, I flew down to Belize overnight June 5th and picked up Gia and brought her back. She was an angel on all three flights, the first one with her foster parents from the island to the mainland in Belize, and the last two from Belize to Houston, and then from Houston to SFO. She even used the litter box in the back of the jeep at the airport just after we landed and has adapted perfectly. Rudy is not super thrilled given she is a kitten, has tons of energy, and wants to play fight all the time, so now we are trying to figure out a way to calm her down or perhaps, considering going back to three cats that will give her a playmate closer to her age. 

Later in the month, I flew up to visit Cody in Portland. He turned the big 3-0. We spruced up his new digs a little bit and hung out a lot with his dog Rufus. It was a nice visit but we did not get to see his ex girlfriend who ended up having the baby on June 22nd, the day after I went home. Her Name is Emunah Selah and she looks just like Cody. I am officially a grandmother and will go by ‘Nana Bennett’. I am so happy for Cody. I know he will make a wonderful and loving father. I hope that he and Jacinda his ex girlfriend can work to coparent her. 

On June 30 Jeff’s nephew Maxon was born as well, so we have two new babies in our lives and it’s very exciting.

Last, but not least, we bought a house in Benicia on the water. We are super excited as we have a lot of friends here. We had sold the house last summer and we’re renting an apartment in downtown Walnut Creek while we figured out where we really wanted to live for the next 5 to 10 years. We had thought about Nashville as we loved it there, but it is too far away from family. Well, that is about it for June and July. I hope that things are going well for you and that you are enjoying the warm weather. I think of you every day love and pray that at some point, we will reconnect .

Waiting for Spring

Hi Zach, we are waiting for spring to come here in Benicia as most days have been  rainy and chilly. Your mom has always loved beach weather and can’t wait for summer lol. Hope that wherever you are, you are enjoying the outdoors. Aside from celebrating Jeff’s 54th birthday, February was fairly quiet around here. I have been working a lot of shifts at the winery which is still the best job ever and Jeff and I have been preparing for the first vacation. we have had alone together in two years. We flew down to Curaçao, which is part of the Netherland Antilles and is close to Aruba. We had a very relaxing and amazing time in the warm weather and on the beautiful beaches. Came home to that drizzly chill and are back to waiting for sunshine. I often wonder if you travel for fun and if so, what places you have discovered and if you have any favorites. We have a couple more trips coming up this year, one to visit your uncle Gregg and auntie Kim now that they live in Portugal. Al...

Holiday Spirit

  Dear Zach, hoping you got the Christmas and birthday cards I sent to you. Cannot believe you are 30 years old now. I can’t really say time has flown given  that not being able to see you has left a huge void in our lives. The holiday season is always bittersweet in that our family always finds ways to celebrate and love one another, but there  are always thoughts of missing  you intertwined.  Jeff and I flew Cody down for the Benicia annual Christmas tree lighting and to see Nana and granddad. It was a short but very special weekend. I have included the video where Cody surprised your grandparents with his visit. It made them both so happy. It was Jeff’s family’s turn for Christmas so we flew up to Washington to be with his nephew, Maxon and the rest of the family. When I’m Sixty-Four.

Hi Zach, well, now I am officially the age of a Beatles song. It’s hard to believe I’m that old and have yet to reunite with you. It’s been almost 15 years.  I think of you every day of my life and pray that you are happy and loved.  Of course, October means Halloween, one of my favorite holidays. We met up with friends to celebrate and I dressed as Beth from the television show Yellowstone. Perhaps you’ve heard of it. Earlier in the month your aunt Christine and I went to a meet and greet for the actor Sam Heughan from outlander. It’s a show. We are both obsessed with that takes place in 18th century Scotland around the clan Fraser. Up until a few years ago, I had no idea that Jeff’s family are Fraser’s and Fraser is his younger brother‘s and father’s middle name. My head exploded lol. Thanksgiving was quiet as Nana and granddad don’t eat much so taking them to a restaurant where they are serving a huge meal is not ideal. Instead, Jeff and I spent the...
